Question I am turning over
How should we live if the future is not promised?
If you know me, you know that I'm worried about AI. My fear is that something far more capable than us may pursue a goal with no place for human beings at all, and that by the time we understand the error, correction will no longer be possible. I do not think that calls for surrender. It makes the present more vivid and resistance more urgent: love what is here, seize the time we still have, think clearly, and fight without apology for a future in which humanity survives. To paraphrase C. S. Lewis: if that AI comes, let it find us doing sensible and human things.
